Real Felipe Fortress Tour

10:00am. Start of the tour visiting the Real Felipe Fortress, a military building built in the 18th century in Callao Bay during the rule of Viceroys José Antonio Manso de Velasco and Manuel de Amat y Junyent to defend the port from pirate and privateer attacks. It has five main bastions: “De la Reina, del Rey, de San José, de San Carlos, de San Felipe and the Prince’s bastion”. From these towers you have a magnificent view of the rest of the military complex and the sea of ​​Callao.

The fortress has more than 70 thousand square meters, a water moat 16 meters wide and two meters deep and a system of embankments or slopes that allowed it to be hidden from enemy observations from the high seas, which is why it was not besieged by its attackers throughout the entire colonial and independence period.
